Hi there, fellow curly queens! I’ve been completely natural (chemical free) since 2009. I made the decision to stop chemically straightening my hair because I noticed overall my hair was weak, dry and had broken off substantially. I have always had long hair, in fact I was born with a full head of hair about 2 inches long! My hair was always long and in protective styles as a young girl, however, when I started taking over my own hair care I lacked proper understanding of how to actually care for & maintain it. This led to extreme breakage and heat damage. I would often only use water on my hair and I straightened it more often than I care to admit! I went from having waist length hair to hair around my collarbone over the years. Through much trial and error since 2009 I have learned what does and does not work for my hair. With patience I took the steps necessary to educate myself on my hair type and best methods of care by watching YouTube videos and seeing what worked for other people with similar hair textures. The world of natural hair care is vast and there are a lot of opinions about what you should and should not do with your hair. I had to find what works best for ME!
Currently my regimen consists of the Emerge hair care line. I use their deep conditioner, leave in conditioner, styling cream, shampoo and conditioner. Not only is it affordable, but you can find it at your local target which is super convenient!
I love my natural hair! I have come to appreciate The texture God has blessed me with. The trap of comparison is dangerous and can lead to not being content and loving who you really were meant to be! No two curly heads are alike! I encourage you to explore your own natural hair and unleash the beauty within your own coils because EVERY Queen comes with a crown! 👸🏾
