Hey curly cutie welcome back to this blog about weave or no weave! If you haven’t read my last blog I will go into a little history about my relationship with weave! I encourage you to take a second and read the last blog and if you have already, sit back, relax, grab you tea, coffee and enjoy this blog!!

WEAVE OR NO WEAVE?

I let weave back into my life a few more times and long story short, I wasted my time and money because I would take it down the next week, sometimes the next day. Then I made the choice, NO WEAVE!

I paused on getting weave for a long time and started to do protective hairstyles on my natural hair such as mini twist, mini braids, twist outs and braid outs. One day, I had an urge for box braids but I didn't want to go through the pain, so I came up with an action plan to limit as much pain as possible.

  1. Speak up to your hairstylist

The installation is the most important part when getting your hair done. If you notice tightness or if your stylist is gripping those edges, that is the best time to say something. Ask all of the questions you have and if they catch an attitude with you for being concerned about the health of your hair, then maybe they're not the hairstylist for you. If you don't speak up during the installation process, you'll be regretting later with the ibuprofen in your hand.

  1. Avoid up-do’s until your hair loosens up a bit

When you pull fresh braids up, it can cause bumps to appear and that’s our

body signaling to us that it's uncomfortable and something is wrong.

  1. Spray cold water where tightness appears.

Spraying cold water surprisingly eases the tightness and takes it away for a second. I don't mind a little frizz, if you're like me then let your spray bottle become your best friend.

  1. Hot towel method.

I like to put a hot towel on my braids because it helps loosen up the braids or whatever style you have.

  1. Oil yo scalp!

Oiling your scalp will save you the itchiness later! Don't wait until your hair is dry to oil but oil it before it starts to itch.

I followed these steps and it gave me some relief quicker than before. It was bearable to wear my weave styles and I found the hacks that helped me best. My answer to weave or no weave is both! For the longest time, it was a black and white world for me but then I realized, I can enjoy both.

BAD TO GOOD

I was the girl who didn't care for weave and now I'm the woman who changed her perspective and made it work! I still typically wear my natural hair, but I don't mind spicing it up every once in a while. This lesson is more than just about weave or no weave, let me make it plain for you. The worst things in our life can get better! If it’s relationships, trials, or even the pain of weave, remember that our circumstances can turn from bad to good. Keep the hope alive and take care curly cuties!!!
